ok this is not a joke, just one of tose random things that pop into your head

basically, over the last year i have got into my comedy, and can relate to some top comedians, i would list here, but way too long and time consuming.

anyway, i would like to give ameture comedy a go, and see if i can make it, but im really not sure if a) it would be a good thing, or b) how to go about it. any suggestions?

it has been on my mind for a little while, and spoke to friends about it, with mixed responses, from "wow, do it, i will be a fan" to "lmao that would never happen, your not comedian material"

ive even spoke to the mother about it and well, she said "go for it, you should do it"

i have written a few random things down and stuff, but im not sure, what else i can do

so, any querires/ tips/ comments on this matter?

Trying your routine out on your friends would be a good start, because the next step up is open mic nights and those can be quite intimidating. I suppose you could always get technological and open up Diego TV on Vimeo or similar :)

Everything's worth a try, but I'm not sure I remember hearing a radio show that does breakthrough comedy. Maybe you could record some stuff as if you're on the radio and see what people think?

i could do, and going back on your "diego tv " idea, youtube. but it seems like the technology side of things could be better than more going out to comedy clubs in an attempt to get a slot, as i have heard its vertually impossible to get into some of them, but no harm in trying everything

I'd go for vimeo over youtube if you try that, because their terms are simpler, fairer and less sneaky.

Ive been to a lot of open mic nights since Im a huge fan of comedy. Ive seen people whom range from terrible to excellent. Ive also seen a ew people that 12 months later had their own night and theur own support acts, and a few that went on to become famous. Leicester Comedy Festival is always looking for new acts. I quite often go to comedy nights at the Crumblin Cookie in town and if you approached them they might have space for you. But, as Kuang says, try it out on friends and family first. Audiences can be quite harsh, and Ive been to many a night where someone has been very obviousoly giving their first performance, and audiences arent very forgiving if they cotton on to that.

Good luck! As I said, I love comedy, so I'll keep a look out for you ;)

Some people are like slinkies,
Not really good for anything,
But they still bring a smile to your face
When you push them down a flight of stairs.

Try it out on your friends first. The trouble with YouTube and the Interwebs is that you will be subject to trolls. In the good old days before everybody had access to stuff you made public with one click, there were certain "safety features" in place. For example, a wannabe comedian would do a few open mic nights and if their jokes were met with tumbleweed, no harm done, try a different career. If they did well though then they did more nights and eventually found themselves being asked to booked performances. Just because you can publish on global scale instantly, doesn't always mean that you should!

If you know you are good, and have had independent objective feedback confirming that, then I would go down the internet route.

Stick with Vimeo, you can add longer videos and don't get picked up on the silly little copyright issues that YouTube does - although this is not me saying to use other people material (just to clarify that one).

Sounds like a good call though Diego, maybe you should try opening a Jitty meeting like a stand up show ;)

hmmm is that a challenge? and surely opening it like a comedy show, would just be "ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage Mr Hunter with sidekick Mr Kuang"

If that means I have to smile whilst getting custard pied, you can stuff it :)

The Y theatre in Leicester (opposite the train station) does Emergency nights about 3 or 4 times a year, for emerging artists. They ask for 15 mins and don't require a showreel. If you look on their website you may get more details. They try and put on a variety of acts so you should have a chance. It may be a good place to see if you liked performing and were liked by the audience.

Ha ha, you're welcome, it's not a find really (well not a new one anyway), I've seen a lot of the Emergency shows, there's always something worth watching in there! I did perform there once myself as well.

Just read Reddit, you'll probably get a few funny things off that!
